Assistant Professor Dr. Yasen Yonkov Georgiev completed his secondary education in 2013 at the 8th Secondary School for Foreign Languages “A. S. Pushkin" in Varna, specializing in Russian language. In 2019, he graduated from the Medical University of Varna with a Master's degree in Medicine. From 2016 to 2019, he served as a teaching demonstrator at the Department of General and Operative Surgery.
He is proficient in English and German, and holds an international certificate in Russian language proficiency from Moscow State University.
Since October 2020, following a competitive selection process, Dr. Georgiev has been appointed as an assistant professor at the Department of Disaster Medicine and Maritime Medicine.
Dr. Georgiev has participated in numerous symposia and conferences, including the Black Sea Symposium for Young Scientists in Biomedicine, the Scientific Conference of the Bulgarian Public Health Scientific Society (BPHSS), the Sea and Health Festival, among others.
In November 2020, Dr. Yasen Georgiev was admitted as a full-time doctoral student in the doctoral program “Disaster Medicine," with his dissertation topic titled “Preparedness for Protection and Response of Healthcare Facilities in Varna Region in the Face of Natural and Anthropogenic Hazards."
In 2025, he successfully completed a specialized course in disaster and crisis management according to NATO and EU standards: “Disaster Response and Consequence Management for a Radiological Incident."
