The Museum of the History of Medicine will commemorate the life and work of the great Bulgarian scholar Dr. Petar Beron with an exhibition of informational panels, which will open on 21 October.
The author of the Fish Primer (Riben bukvar) was one of the prominent figures of the Bulgarian National Revival — an educator, scientist, encyclopaedist, pedagogue, philosopher, physician and naturalist.
Although he eventually gave up the practice of medicine, Dr. Petar Beron made contributions across numerous fields of science. He was a member of various international scientific societies and spoke nine languages. With his financial support, more than 20 schools were established, including schools for girls.
