Primary School Pupils Donated an Ice Generator
Fourth-graders from Azbuki Private School in Sofia donated an ice generator that will be used by the teams that implement donor situations at UMHAT "St. Marina"–Varna. The initiative of the children, which was accomplished with the assistance of the Medical Supervision Executive Agency, was welcomed with gratitude by the Director of the Hospital Prof. Dr. Silva Andonova. She addressed them saying, “You are the future of Bulgaria and I am delighted that you are helping people who are in need of transplants! You are awakening the faith in tomorrow and the hope that there are people coming after us who will empathise with the pain of the others, because this is not a priority only for the medical profession!"
The head of the Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Prof. Dr. Petya Ivanova explained to the children which organs could be donated and how many people a donor could save. The donation coordinator Dr. Valentin Marinchev answered all the questions related to transplants raised by the curious kids.
