The American Leading Specialist in Psychodermatology Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jafferany Visited MU-Varna and Delivered a Lecture to Students and Lecturers
The eminent American expert in Psychodermatology Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jafferany from the Faculty of Medicine at Central Michigan University in the USA paid a visit to MU-Varna delivering a lecture on brain-skin connection and practical implications. The distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences was welcomed by the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov and the Vice-Rectors for “Science and Research" and “International Cooperation" Prof. Dr. Violeta Yotova and Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov.
The guest presented Psychodermatology as an interdisciplinary field that provides a new approach and therapeutic horizon for patients with skin diseases and psychosomatics. Prof. Jafferany underscored that the collaboration between Dermatology and Psychiatry is a field that has plenty of followers in North America, Australia, Asia and already in Europe. According to the specialist, the new approach not only allows patients to have their skin diseases treated, but also to enhance their mental and emotional well-being, leading to an overall improvement in their quality of life.
The American professor pointed out that the First World Congress of Psychodermatology had been held in Istanbul just a week ago, an event where specialists from all continents had discussed the latest scientific findings in the field, with the aim of providing in-depth clinical training and education.
Prof. Raykov, Prof. Yotova and Prof. Milkov extended an invitation to the American professor to conduct a series of lectures, courses and workshops on Psychodermatology at MU-Varna and expressed their confidence in the beneficial cooperation between MU-Varna and Central Michigan University.
