Rector of Bezmialem Vakuf University in Istanbul Prof. Rumeyza Kazanjioglu delivered a public lecture

On a working visit to MU-Varna and University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna was the Rector of Beşmialem Vakuf University in Istanbul prof. Prof. Rumeiza Kazanjioglu. She got acquainted with the modern university and medical facilities and with the opportunities for training students, postgraduates and doctoral students. On the first day of her visit prof. Kazancioglu was welcomed by the Executive Director of the University Hospital "St. Marina" - Varna Prof. Dr. Silva Andonova, then visited the Interventional Radiology Center and the Clinics of Imaging Diagnostics, Nuclear Medicine and Metabolic Therapy, Nephrology and Rheumatology. Profs. Kazancioglu expressed his impression of the high level of medical equipment and devices and the opportunities for training of students and treatment of patients, as well as the excellent organization in the medical institution. At MU-Varna prof. Kazanjioglu was welcomed by the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov. At a meeting with the Vice Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov and the Director of the Accreditation and Quality Directorate at MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Todorka Kostadinova, the possibilities for joint cooperation, exchange of students and participation in joint scientific and educational projects were discussed. The research activity of prof. Rumeiza Kazanjioglu's research focuses on chronic renal failure, autonomous dominant polycystic kidney disease, peritoneal dialysis and home dialysis. In front of students and faculty, prof. Kazancioglu gave a public lecture on "New KDIGO guideline on Chronic Kidney Disease Management: what is new?". Prof. Rumeyza Kazancioglu completed her medical training at Istanbul Medical University. She received a fellowship from the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and worked at the Transplant Center of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, USA between 2000 and 2001. She was the founder and chairman of the Nephrology Clinic at Haseki Teaching and Research Hospital, Istanbul from 2003-2010. During her leadership, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis units and nephrology fellowship program were initiated. She became Professor of Nephrology in 2010 when she joined Bezmialem Vakuf University as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Since 2015, Prof. Dr. Foucault has been working in the field of nephrology. Kazancioglu is the Rector of the University. The institution originated from the roots of the Ottoman Empire's first modern hospital, Gureba-i Müslimin, which was founded in 1845 and converted into a university in 2010.​
