Public Lecture “Modern Approaches in the Diagnosis and Therapy of Cardiomyopathies” Held on 5 March at MU–Varna under the MUVE-TEAM Project

On 5 March, a public lecture on “Modern Approaches in the Diagnosis and Therapy of Cardiomyopathies" was held at Medical University–Varna. Guest lecturer was Dr. Zornitsa Shomanova, a specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with extensive clinical, teaching, and management experience in Germany. The lecture was open to undergraduate students, PhD candidates, members of the academic community, and everyone interested in the topic.

The participation of Dr. Shomanova was under project No. BG-RRP-2.004-0009-C02 of Medical University – Varna “Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)", funded by the European Union–NextGenerationEU, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Profile:

Dr. Zornitsa Shomanova, MME, MHBA is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with many years of clinical, teaching, and managerial experience in Germany. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (Dr. med.) degree for her thesis “Diagnostic value of global myocardial perfusion reserve assessment based on coronary sinus flow measurements using cardiovascular magnetic resonance in addition to myocardial stress perfusion imaging" and is actively engaged in the field of heart failure and cardiomyopathies.

Her professional career is closely related to Münster University Hospital, where she works as a cardiology specialist and is responsible for medical education within the cardiology clinics. She is the head of the “Cardiovascular System" teaching module at the Faculty of Medicine in Münster and has received a teaching award for her contribution to the development of the “Limette" training centre.

Dr. Shomanova holds the academic degrees Master of Medical Education (MME) and Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA), combining expertise in medical didactics, educational management, and health administration. A certified trainer in Medical Didactics, she actively participates in the development and implementation of innovative educational programmes.

She currently works as a specialist in the “Heart Failure" section and leads an interdisciplinary project on preoperative medical management. She is involved in national and international clinical studies, including a project of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF).

Her professional profile combines clinical expertise, academic teaching, research activities, and managerial competencies, establishing her as a lecturer with international experience and an interdisciplinary perspective.​
