On June 9, 2026 (Tuesday) at 2:00 p.m. in the Vladimir Ivanov hall of the St. Marina University Hospital will be held a public lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savi Shishkov on the topic Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Pituitary Diseases.
The lecture will provide a brief overview of recent developments in the diagnosis and treatment of certain pituitary tumor disorders. Current opportunities and contemporary trends in personalized diagnostics as well as future therapies for acromegaly, prolactinomas, and Cushing's disease which have the potential to change current therapeutic strategies will be discussed.
Assoc. Prof. Savi Shishkov, M.D., completed his Master's degree in Medicine at the Medical University of Varna in 2017. In the same year, he began working at the Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at St. Marina University Hospital EAD, Varna. In 2018, he was appointed to the academic position of “Assistant Professor" at the Second Department of Internal Medicine. In 2021, he completed his specialty in endocrinology. Two years later, after defending his dissertation on “Androgen Levels in Men with Acute and Chronic Coronary Syndrome," Assoc. Prof. Shishkov earned the academic degree of “Doctor" in the “Endocrinology" doctoral program; that same year (2023), after winning a competitive selection, he was appointed to the position of “Senior Assistant Professor," and in 2025 he was promoted to “Associate Professor" in the same department. He is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Endocrinology, the European Society of Endocrinology, and the European Neuroendocrine Association. He completed his fellowship in Leiden, the Netherlands. He holds a qualification in health management (2021).
