The university's coat of arms features a stylized depiction of an open book within the temple of knowledge, with a staff wrapped by a serpent at its center. The modernization of the emblem is achieved by placing it within a double shield, enhancing the plasticity of the image. A ceremonial ribbon bearing the name of the university’s patron adds completeness and unity to the design.
The flag of the Medical University of Varna is made of white silk and silver thread. In accordance with heraldic tradition, the university's emblem and name—Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov"—are embroidered in blue on the white background. The flag is preserved in the Rectorate's conference hall and is displayed on solemn occasions. It is carried by a designated flag bearer, selected upon recommendation by the Student Council, accompanied by two assistants. The names of the flag bearer and assistants are officially announced at the academic ceremony marking the university's patronal celebration.
Symbols of the Rector's Authority – Scepter, Chain, and Gown
The university's scepter is crowned with two intersecting spheres and a serpent at its center, symbolizing medical knowledge. Its origins trace back to the ancient symbol of medicine—a staff entwined by a serpent—as well as historical legends representing wisdom and omniscience. The top of the scepter is adorned with a jade sphere, a stone signifying eternity, strength, and knowledge—fundamental values in medicine. The scepter is carried by a designated bearer, appointed by the Academic Council upon recommendation by the Student Council.
The scepter is positioned:
- Directly in front of the Rector during processions.
- Directly behind the Rector during ceremonies and gatherings.
The Rector's chain is polygonal in shape, symbolizing scientific knowledge. Crafted from bronze, its center features an engraved emblem of the Medical University of Varna—an open book within the temple of knowledge, with a central medical insignia: a staff entwined by a serpent. The base of the medallion is made of blue stone, representing human ideals, which are core principles in medical education and the physician's profession. The chain holds high artistic and jewelry value.

The Rector's gown at the Medical University of Varna was fully redesigned in 2012 to reflect modern academic traditions. The cut represents academic rank and commitment through a black stole and four velvet patches on each sleeve. Gold trim borders every element of the garment, while the base fabric is made of red silk.
The symbols of the Rector's authority are worn during:
- University celebrations
- Formal processions
- Solemn sessions of the Academic Council
The Vice Rector's chain, similar to the Rector's, features Solomon's knots but in an openwork, lightweight design with a golden hue. The main medallion is embedded with the institution's emblem. The chain holds significant artistic and jewelry value.

The Vice Rectors' gown maintains the general cut and style of the Rector's gown but is in dark blue. The stole-like element is firmly stitched to the chest zipper, while the velvet patches are red and fewer in number. The gold trim outlines each decorative element.
Symbols of the Dean's Authority

The Dean's chain follows the primary design of the Rector's chain, but its elements along the chain are openwork. The silver-toned necklace highlights the Dean's status. The chain holds high artistic and jewelry value.

The Dean's gown maintains the same cut as the Rector's gown but signifies the distinct role through its color and the number of decorative patches. It is dark blue with red stole-like elements, while the silver trim outlines the garment.
