The Department of Pediatric Dental Medicine has been established as a separate department in July 2013. The Department develops active teaching activities in its main fields with a full cycle of lectures and seminars for students and residents in dental medicine such as dental prophylaxis, epidemiology, caries in early childhood, modern methods for the treatment of caries and its complications in temporary and permanent dentition.
The Department uses the outpatients' facilities of the Faculty of Dental Medicine with its modern equipment, teaching halls and rooms for clinical seminars, up-to-date materials and methods. The preparation of various teaching materials in Bulgarian and English is under way aimed at optimizing students' training in pediatric dental medicine.
The academic staff of the Department takes part in the programme for dental diseases prevention in Bulgarian children, works in various programmes for oral hygiene, fluorine prophylaxis, health training and education.
