Assistant to the Doctor of Dental Medicine

For the first time since the end of 2013, Vocational Training Centre - Varna has launched training in the new profession "Assistant to the Doctor of Dental Medicine".

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE AN ASSISTANT TO THE DOCTOR OF DENTAL MEDICINE AND WHERE THEY CAN WORK?

The new profession "Assistant to the Doctor of Dental Medicine" aims at providing appropriate education and professional training for improving the employability of the workforce in accordance with the requirements of the labour market and the quality of health care. It bridges the gap caused by the termination of dental nurses training and enhances the effectiveness of work in dental clinics and offices. It is expected the new profession to improve the effective dental care, prevention, and the process of increasing prices in dental medicine. Graduates can work as assistants to the doctor of dental medicine in dental clinics and offices.

WHAT KIND DOCUMENT SHALL BE ISSUED AFTER COMPLETING STUDIES:

The students successfully completed their studies shall sit for a state examination and then they shall be issued a Professional Qualification Certificate, valid both in Bulgaria and EU countries.

.PERIOD OF STUDY

It is expected the first qualification course, with 6.5 months period of study, to be launched by the end of the year.

STUDY PLAN

The study plan includes 15 academic subjects in General, Specialized and Specific vocational training with a total number of 980 hours, of which 462 are dedicated to theoretical and  518 to practical training.

WHO ORGANIZES THE TRAINING AND WHERE IT TAKES PLACE?

The course is organized by the Vocational Training Centre at Medical University "Prof. Dr. P. Stoyanov" - Varna. The training will be conducted predominantly at the bases of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and "St. Marina" University Hospital – Varna by University lecturers and senior nurses.

TUITION FEE:

The tuition fee is expected to be 2,000 Lev (two thousand Lev).

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND DOCUMENTS:

The required minimum educational level is completed secondary education or acquired right to sit for state examinations and a medical certificate.

The following documents shall be submitted:

  1. Certificate of Completed Education (Diploma);
  2. Copy of the Identity Card;
  3. Medical Certificate;
  4. Application to the Director of VTC;
  5. Deposit slip for the fee paid;
  6. 2 passport size photos
