The Department was established in 2008 as a basic structural unit within the Faculty of Pharmacy. Today the Department is the largest unit within MU-Varna, involving 17 lecturers - one Professor, nine Associate Professors and seven Assistant Professors. The academic staff of the Department are lecturers in Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Pathology, Hygiene and Ecology, Toxicology, Internal Medicine, Anatomy.
The Department of Preclinical and Clinical Sciences is one of the main organizers at MU-Varna of a number of scientific events such as the annual Assemblies of International Medical Association Bulgaria (
IMAB), seminars, workshops and round tables on various medical and biological topics.
The scientific production of the researchers at the Department is significant - over 40 publications in the country and abroad each academic year.
Lecturers of the Department are frequently invited as guest lecturers at various international scientific conferences abroad and as chairmen of symposia and conferences in the country and in many countries around the world.
According to all quality rankings of lecturing, research and innovation activities of the Department, it occupies one of foremost places in the structure of MU- Varna.
