Maria Tsvetkova was born in Varna. She completed
her higher education with a Bachelor's degree in Biology at “Paisii Hilendarski”
University of Plovdiv in 2003. She obtained her Master's degree in Molecular
Biology - Genetics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in 2006. Since
March 2004, she has been working as a biologist at the Department of Medical
Genetics at the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov” in Varna and at
the Medical Genetics Laboratory of University Hospital “St. Marina” in Varna.
In 2021, she defended her PhD dissertation on the topic “Cytogenetic Findings
in Patients with Reproductive Failure” under the doctoral program in Genetics.
Since March 2024, she has held the position of Assistant Professor at the
Department of Biology at the Medical University of Varna.
Mariya Tsvetkova is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Human Genetics.
