The first PhD student Dr. Bachvarov was enrolled to the Department of PDM and Orthodontics on a free PhD in February 2016: Topic: "Epidemiological study of the prevalence of nonsyndromic hypodontia"

 The PhD students - Dr. Gergana Ivanova,  Dr. Zornitsa Valcheva, Dr. Iliyana Atanasova and Dr. Jarina Davidova - were enrolled at the Department of Orthodontics with topics included:

• Prevention and diagnosis of canine teeth impaction
• The influence of wisdom teeth on the outcome of orthodontic treatment
• The role of the orthodontist in combined orthodontic-prosthetic treatment- hypodontia
• The role of upper first molar rotation on the formation of the permanent dentition
• The influence of oral breathing and harmful habits on the formation of the TMJ
• Dental age of Bulgarian children in mixed and permanent dentition
• Skeletal age of Bulgarian children  7-17 years.  Mean chronological age  of Bulgarian children  during the phases of pubertal pick  CVM II, CVM III и CVM IV
• Study of individual indicators of puberty growth period and development of a prognostic model on orthopantomography for initiation of orthodontic treatment
• Incidence of  tooth germ mineralization stage of permanent teeth in the pubertal growth period.
• Determination of age at different stages of  human ontogenetic development by different characteristics of dental tissues
• Etiology, diagnosis and treatment of OSA
• Complex treatment of defects in the MFR
• Combined orthodontic-surgical treatment for impacted teeth
• Examination of the anatomy of the nasomaxillary sinus and materials for restoring the height of the alveolar bone
