The main governing body of the Department is the Departmental Council that includes all lecturers on full-time contract. The Departmental Council is chaired by the Head of the Department, who is directly subordinate to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and administers the scientific and educational activities in the Department in accordance with the decisions of the Departmental Council and the regulations of the Medical University - Varna.
