The Department of Pediatric Dentistry offers comprehensive training for dental students from the second to the sixth year, in both Bulgarian and English. Ongoing development of various educational materials in Bulgarian and English aims to enhance the training experience for pediatric dentistry students. The department has produced several monographic publications.
The course Propaedeutics of Pediatric Dentistry is undertaken during the fourth and fifth semesters, comprising 60 academic hours (30 hours of lectures and 30 hours of practical exercises). Following successful completion of the practical and theoretical semester examination in the third year of their education, students proceed to the study of the course Clinic of Pediatric Dentistry during the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth semesters, which accounts for a total of 240 academic hours (60 hours of lectures and 180 hours of practical exercises). The course Dental Prophylaxis is taken in the sixth and seventh semesters, totaling 60 academic hours (30 hours of lectures and 30 hours of practical exercises). The training culminates in a practical and theoretical examination in the fourth year. Upon completing the semester examination in the fifth year of their education, students engage in a state internship in the course Pediatric Dentistry, lasting 15 days and culminating in a state examination.
