Биография

Assoc. Prof. Tsvetelina Tarpomanova, MD, PhD, graduated with a degree in Medicine from the Medical University of Varna in 1994. She acquired a specialty in Psychiatry in 2001 and a qualification in Health Management from the University of Economics Varna in 2003. In the period 2005–2007, she completed a two-year Master's programme in Health Management at the Medical University of Varna, obtaining a Master's degree in Health Management.

In 2012, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Development of a System for Addiction Treatment – Establishment and Management of Structures within Varna Municipality," and was awarded the educational and scientific degree of Doctor (PhD) in the scientific specialty “Social Medicine and Organisation of Healthcare and Pharmacy."

For 12 years, she served as Managing Director of the Centre for Mental Health – Varna. Since 2012, she has been working at the Medical College – Varna as an Assistant Professor in the Training Sector of Public Health Inspection. In 2015, she was promoted to Chief Assistant Professor, and in 2018, she became an Associate Professor in the same Sector. In 2022, she acquired a second specialty in Child and Adolescent Hygiene. As of June 2024, she is Head of Training Sector of Public Health Inspection.

Dr. Tarpomanova has completed courses in Positive Psychotherapy, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Transcultural Psychiatry with the German Association for Positive Psychotherapy (1997–1999); a seminar on Addiction Treatment at the University of California, San Diego (2001); and numerous trainings in treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, motivational interviewing, brief interventions for individuals dependent on psychoactive substances, and others.

She has participated in a working group for the development of clinical practice standards in substitution and maintenance therapy under the Ministry of Health. She has conducted training for school counsellors and psychologists on working with children with behavioural challenges and their parents. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Tarpomanova was a member of the Expert Council on Addiction Treatment at the Ministry of Health. She is a lecturer in the continuing education course “Early Childhood Intervention." She is a certified trainer in the use of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and brief interventions for patients with problematic use of narcotic substances and alcohol within the general healthcare system. In 2022, she participated in a working group under the Ministry of Education and Science to develop a universal approach to the assessment of the development of children and students.

Dr. Tarpomanova is the lead of several international and national projects: the international project “INDEED" (Debt and Training), under the Lifelong Learning Programme of the Centre for the Development of Human Resources; “Comprehensive Model for Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Individuals Dependent on Narcotic Substances," under the Social Assistance Agency and the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development"; “Stress-Free Learning," under the Municipality of Varna. She has also participated in three projects under the Science Fund of the Medical University of Varna.

She is involved in teaching the following subjects: Social Medicine and Health Promotion, Health Promotion in Schools, Child and Adolescent Hygiene, and Communication Skills for students at the Medical College – Varna, as well as in the Master's programme in Public Health and Healthcare Management.

Dr. Tarpomanova is a supervisor and reviewer for Master's theses in the Public Health Protection and Control programme, and a scientific advisor to doctoral candidates enrolled in the PhD programmes “Healthcare Management" and “Hygiene."

Publications

Dr. Tarpomanova is the author of two monographs: "Social Aspects of Methadone Treatment in Bulgaria" and "Aggression in School-Age Children: A Challenge for Parents and Teachers." She is also a co-author of educational materials and has over 90 publications in national and international scientific journals, as well as more than 60 participations in scientific conferences.

Her primary research interests lie in the fields of Child and Adolescent Health, Mental Health, Prevention of Occupational Stress and Burnout among Professionals, and Addictive Behavior.​
