Dr. Elena Panayotova was born on April 17, 1978, in Ruse. She completed her secondary education in 1997 and earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Sofia in 2004. In January 2005, she began working at Alexandrovska University Hospital in Sofia. Since September 2009, she has been appointed as a resident physician at the Clinic of Internal Medicine at St. Marina University Hospital in Varna.
In 2013, she was appointed as a part-time assistant at the Department of Propedeutics of Internal Diseases at the Medical University of Varna. In 2017, she became a full-time assistant at the same department, and since 2023, she has held the position of Chief Assistant.
In 2022, she defended her dissertation on the topic: “The Role of Necroptosis in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases."
She holds two medical specialties:
- Internal Medicine (2014)
- Gastroenterology (2019)
She has also obtained additional qualifications and diplomas for highly specialized activities in:
- Conventional abdominal ultrasonography in gastroenterology and superficial structures
- Abdominal Doppler ultrasound in gastroenterology
- Diagnostic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
