Assoc. Prof. Zhivko Zhekov, MD, PhD was born in the city of Silistra in 1961
Education and Qualifications:
Graduated from the Medical University of Varna with very good success in 1987. From 1987 to 1989, he worked as a gynecologist at the District Hospital in Silistra. He served as a clinical resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of Varna from 1990 to 1993. He worked as an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician in the Gynecology Clinic at the Medical Hospital "Sveta Anna" in Varna from 1993 to 2016. Since 2016, he has been working at the SBAGAL "Prof. Dr. D. Stamatov" as the Head of the Gynecology Department. After winning a competition in 2017, he was selected as a regular assistant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of Varna.
Professional Experience:
He has pursued specializations at Hadassah Hospital in Israel. He has publications in the field of medical abortions. Dr. Zhekov's scientific and practical interests lie in the area of laparoscopy in gynecology. He defended his dissertation on the topic: "Methods for Termination of Pregnancy in Obstetrics and Gynecological Practice." After successfully winning a competition in 2024, he holds the academic position of "Associate Professor" in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Training and Courses:
He has completed training courses in the fields of hysteroscopy, colposcopy, operative obstetrics, and gynecology both in the country and abroad. He is the author and co-author of a large number of scientific publications in refereed journals. He has participated in over 20 congresses and seminars.
