Биография


Prof. Dr. Rumen Nenkov graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 1986. He worked as a resident in the surgical department of the Kubrat Regional Hospital from 1986 to 1988 and a clinical resident at the Department of Surgical Diseases, Medical University of Varna from 1988 to 1991. After a competition, he was selected as an assistant at the Clinic of Thoracic Surgery, Medical University of Varna from 1991, and from 1994 as a senior and from 2000 as a chief assistant. He obtained a specialty in surgery in 1991, a specialty in thoracic surgery in 1997 and Health Management in 2002. Since 2003, he has been a doctoral student at the Department of Surgical Diseases. He defended his candidate's thesis and obtained the scientific and educational degree "doctor" in 2007. In 2012 was elected as an associate professor at the Clinic of Thoracic Surgery, and since 2018. holds the academic position of "professor" in the scientific specialty "Thoracic Surgery". Since 2019. is the head of the Clinic of Thoracic Surgery. National consultant in thoracic surgery for Northeastern Bulgaria, member of the Expert Council on Thoracic Surgery at the NHIF and the examination committee for the specialty in Thoracic Surgery. Chairman of the examination committee for the state exam for the specialty in surgical and dressing techniques.

His professional interests are related to lung, mediastinum and pleural surgery /conventional and minimally invasive/, surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands and breast surgery.

He is the author of over 250 publications and communications in our country and abroad. He has conducted courses and specializations in the field of minimally invasive thoracoscopic lung surgery, breast and thyroid surgery /Berlin, Strasbourg, Ljubljana, Cambridge, Oxford and others/.
