Dr. Yavor Peychev is born on July 23rd, 1961 in Ruse, Bulgaria. He graduated the English Language School “Geo Milev" – Ruse with honours in 1980. In 1988, he graduated with honours as a “Master of Medicine" from the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. During the same year he started his professional career as a general practitioner in IIIrd Polyclinic of the District Hospital – Ruse. Two years later, in 1990, he was accepted by a competition as an assistant professor in the Cardiology Clinic of the Department of Internal Medicine, Medical University – Varna. His academic career developed sequentially from junior to principal assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. He used to work in the Cardiology Clinic of University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna as a cardiologist until 2005, and after that continued his work as a cardiologist in the newly founded Clinic of Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital “St. Marina". Dr. Yavor Peychev held a fellowship in “Treatment of Cardiac Arrhythmias" at Freiburg University, Freiburg, Germany in 1992. He conducted a fellowship in “Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation" in 1993 at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA – “Annual Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Course". Acquired specialities – “Internal Diseases" (1994) and “Clinical Cardiology" (1997). Professional qualification “Echocardiography – Expert Level" (2013). Dr. Peychev participated as a researcher in several international, multicentre, longitudinal, clinical surveys: CONVINCE, HERO-2, TRIUMPH, ESTEEM and CORONA. In 2018, Dr. Yavor Peychev acquired the educational and scientific degree of “Philosophy Doctor" (PhD) for his doctoral thesis on “Prognosis and Prognostic Factors in Aortic Valve Replacement for Aortic Stenosis". In 2023 Dr. Peychev was adjudicated the academic position “Associate Professor" in the scientific speciality “Cardiology". Dr. Peychev participated in the 2019 Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United states of America. He presented there a work on the importance of the comorbidity for the prognosis of operated patients with calcific aortic stenosis, and he was honoured for that with the “International Scholar" Award, named after Dr. Paul Dudley White, one of the founders of the American Heart Association and also associated with the description of the Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome. Dr. Peychev is fluent in two foreign languages: English and Russian.

Dr Peychev's publications in Impact Factor journals account for 38.202 IF. He took part in more than 60 scientific events – international and national congress and scientific conferences. Principal professional and scientific interests are focused on several items – operated heart disease, calcific aortic stenosis, electrocardiology, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
