Dr. Dobrin Boyadzhiev was born on June 8, 1984, in Varna, Bulgaria.
He graduated from the Fifth Language High School “Yoan Ekzarh" in Varna.
In 2009, he completed his medical degree at the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna.
From 2009 to 2013, he worked in the Neuro-ophthalmology Unit of the First Neurology Clinic at University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna.
Between 2011 and 2015, he specialized in Ophthalmology at the Specialized Eye Hospital for Active Treatment – Varna. He became a certified ophthalmologist in 2015.
In 2013, he was appointed Assistant at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at MU–Varna, and simultaneously began working as a medical doctor at the Specialized Eye Hospital – Varna.
Specialized Training and Qualifications
- 2013: Glaucoma course for residents organized by the European Glaucoma Society in Geneva, Switzerland
- 2014: Vitreoretinal Surgery course, Balkan Ophthalmic Wetlab Course
- 2015: Grant from the European Society of Ophthalmology; training at the University Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany
- 2016: Passed the European Board of Ophthalmology examination and earned the title FEBO (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology)
- 2016: Practical course in Cataract and Intraocular Refractive Surgery, Lugano, Switzerland
- 2017: Earned his PhD with a dissertation titled: “UV Eye Protection Habits and an Innovative Concept for Early Detection and Monitoring of Objective Anterior Segment Damage"
- 2018: Promoted to Chief Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, MU–Varna
- 2019-2024: Appointed Head of the Outpatient Diagnostic Unit at the Eye Hospital – Varna
- 2024: Deputy manager of University Specialized Eye Hospital – Varna
