Assoc. Prof. Silvia Atanasova-Stamova, PhD, completed her education as a pharmacy assistant in 2004 at the Medical College – Varna. In 2016, she was awarded a Master's degree in Pharmacy from the Medical University – Varna. In the years that followed, she accumulated substantial practical experience through her work in various pharmaceutical institutions.
In 2017, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Medical University – Varna. In 2018, she commenced her doctoral studies as a full-time PhD candidate in the same department, while simultaneously beginning a specialization in Drug Product Analysis. In April 2021, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Substituted Imidazole Derivatives with Potential Biological Activity", earning the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. She completed her specialization in Drug Product Analysis in May 2021.
Her scientific interests are focused on medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, the synthesis and structural elucidation of bioactive compounds, pharmaceutical analysis, and the antimicrobial activity of natural products. She is the author of scientific publications dedicated to imidazole derivatives, retinoids, and essential oils with potential therapeutic applications.
She is also a co-author of the textbooks Pharmaceutical Analysis (Parts I and II), which are used in the education of pharmacy students. Dr. Atanasova-Stamova leads laboratory and seminar sessions, and actively participates in scientific forums, research projects, and the academic training of undergraduate and doctoral students.
