Education:
Daniela Vasileva Vankova holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biotechnology from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Sofia. Part of her academic development took place abroad as an Erasmus student—first at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and later at the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Cergy-Pontoise, France. Currently, she is a PhD student in the department of Biochemistry, molecular medicine and nutrigenomics in the Medical University of Varna. and carrying out a specialization in Biochemistry in the same university.
Professional Experience:
From 2012 to 2015, she worked as an assistant at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, where she was engaged in both theoretical and applied research in enzymology and protein biochemistry. Between 2015 and 2018, she gained valuable practical experience in a private laboratory—SGS Bulgaria in Varna—performing chromatographic analyses of food and beverages. Since 2018, she has been part of the team at the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, and Nutrigenomics at the Medical University of Varna, initially as a chemist and, since 2024, also as an assistant professor. She teaches biochemistry to students of medicine, dental medicine, and pharmacy, and actively participates in the department's research activities.
Scientific Work:
Her research interests focus on the application of chromatographic and spectrophotometric and masspectrometry methods in biological sample analysis, biomarker investigation, antioxidant activity of natural products, peptide inhibitors, and functional foods. She has participated in numerous national and international scientific events, including the European Peptide Symposium (2012, 2014), the Pharmaceutical Business Forum (2018, 2023, 2024), among others.
