Stefka Minkova was born in Gorna Oryahovitsa, Bulgaria. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Physics in 2003 from Shumen University “Ep. Konstantin Preslavski." In 2015, she completed a Master's degree in Medical Physics at the same university with a thesis titled “Characterization of field devices for real-time gamma-ray monitoring."
From 2015 to 2020, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Biophysics. In 2020, she earned her PhD with a dissertation entitled “Study of the optical characteristics of wines aimed at developing a rapid method for their comparative identification and its practical application."
Since 2021, she has been holding the academic position of Senior Assistant in Medical Physics at the Department of Physics and Biophysics, Medical University – Varna.
Scientific Publications and Research Activities
Stefka Minkova is the author of over 20 scientific publications, including 14 in journals with an impact factor or impact rank, and more than 6 in refereed and indexed journals.
She has participated in five scientific research projects funded by the Research Fund at the Medical University of Varna and the University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv, as well as in national programs of the Ministry of Education and Science, including the National Program “Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Researchers."
Her scientific interests are focused on:
- Physical methods for assessing the quality of food products
- Fluorescence analysis techniques for tinctures and oil extracts from medicinal plants
