Assist. Prof. Dr. Iglika Dimitrova Marinova was born in city of Shumen. Lived and completed secondary education in Varna at the III нigh school "Acad. Metodiy Popov", and then studied and graduated from medicine at the Medical University of Varna - between 1990 and 1996. In 1999, she began specializing in General Medicine. She obtained her specialty in 2006; in the meantime, she worked in the RHIF as a senior inspector, and later in the RHI as a chief expert in the Department of Sanitary Microbiology until 2008. Since 2008 was selected and appointed as a full-time assistant professor after a competition held at the Department of Hygiene and Disaster Medicine of the Medical University of Varna in the scientific discipline of Disaster Medicine. In 2014, she began specializing in Disaster Medicine (of catastrophes) and acquired a specialty in 2020. She participates in the annual editions of the Anti-Terrorism Seminars organized by the Medical University of Varna, in the editions of the Festival "Sea and Health" - Medical University of Varna, in the scientific conferences of the International Medical Association Bulgaria (IMAB) and the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health.
The main scientific interests and developments are in the field of
- potential risk of disasters and incidents, prevention options,
- awareness and preparedness of the population to cope with emergency situations;
- stress, stressful life events, post-traumatic stress, lifestyle and disease onset in psychosomatic and somatoform disorders.
Has over 40 participations in scientific conferences and congresses.
