The new academic year for international students at MU-Varna was opened with an orientation week for the first-year students and a festive programme, streamed live on-line. More than 400 first-year students from the English–Language Training Programmes of Medicine and Dental Medicine are the new addition to the University's large academic family, which currently includes a total of approximately 1 900 foreigners from 54 countries. The largest numbers of students come from Germany, Great Britain, India and Ireland. For the first time in its history, the University has welcomed first-year students from China, Albania and Georgia.

The new academic year for international students was opened on 29th September with a special celebration, in the presence of the Academic Management of MU-Varna, official guests, lecturers, students and parents. The Rector of MU–Varna Prof. Dimitar Raykov addressed the first-year students with the words, “I believe that from now on your curiosity and fervent desire to achieve goals will always lead you to progress, and your successful training will make you citizens of the world and experts in your chosen profession". Prof. Raykov wished the foreign students to make all their dreams come true and to confidently pursue their goals.
Martin Ivov and Monika Stanchev - first and third year students in the English–Language Training Programmes of MU-Varna, also joined the wishes for a successful new academic year. The singing talents of MU-Varna Victoriya Gadzhemova and Alan Paulson, the Student Indian Dance Group, consisting of Anriya Anand, Nimisha Reggie, Elaina Frayu and Niya Thomas, and the dancers from Diana Student Dance Ensemble were participants in the festive programme. Traditionally, the finale of the official opening was the Bulgarian Pravo Horo, which tempted lecturers and students to join the dance.

The orientation week for the first-year students at MU-Varna started on 29th September, incorporating a series of meetings with lecturers and students from the higher courses. The introduction of the international students to the multicultural environment of the University continues until 4th October, and the programme includes a variety of presentations about the University, introductory meetings with students from the higher courses and lecturers, sports events and excursions to emblematic Bulgarian cultural and historical destinations.


The academic year 2025-2026 for the students of the first year of study in the English-Language Programmes of MU-Varna starts on 6th October 2025.
The total number of Bulgarian and international students at MU-Varna has already exceeded 7 000. Over the past decade, the number of students at the University has doubled, and the international students have increased fivefold. The total number of graduates is now 1 418 from 20 countries, which is 6% more than the previous year.
