Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Open Medical Institute (OMI) – a program of the prestigious American Austrian Foundation (AAF), administered by Salzburg Stiftung der AAF, Austria. This partnership is part of the university's strategic efforts to establish international academic cooperation and knowledge transfer in the field of medicine and healthcare.
According to the signed memorandum, the parties will cooperate in the following priority areas:
- Educational exchange and human capital development: MU-Varna will have the opportunity to nominate up to six young doctors per year to participate in intensive training seminars at OMI in Salzburg, as well as to encourage participation in online training (OMInars), leadership programs, and clinical observations (observerships);
- Scientific and research cooperation: The parties will explore opportunities for joint scientific projects and encourage the exchange of scientific information, results, and publications in international journals;
- Academic mobility and guest lecturer participation: A satellite symposium or visit by a foreign lecturer from the OMI network will be organized annually in Varna, with support for travel between the two institutions also planned;
- Organization of events and professional forums: Joint implementation of educational, networking, and scientific events aimed at increasing the expertise and international visibility of Bulgarian medical professionals.
This partnership opens new horizons for academic and clinical integration, combining international experience with local healthcare needs.
