Биография

Assistant Deyana Ivanova Ilieva was born in the city of Ruse, where she completed her secondary education in 1999 at "Hristo Botev" Secondary School. In 2002, she graduated Medical College Varna – Public health inspector. She continued her education at the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" in Burgas, where she earned a bachelor's degree in "Health Management" in 2007, and a master's degree in "Marketing and Management" in 2009. In 2018, she completed a second master's degree in Public Health Protection and Control at the Medical University – Varna, defending a thesis: “Organization of Prevention and Control of Healthcare-associated infections in University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna." That same year, she obtained additional professional qualifications after passing an exam at the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD) for a manager of disinfection, disinsection and deratization activities.


Her professional career began in 2006 as a Public Health Inspector at the Regional Health Inspectorate – Varna, in the department of Epidemiological control. Since 2007, she has been a part of the infection control team at University Hospital “St. Marina" – Varna. Since 2023, she has been appointed as the administrative manager of the unit.

Her academic career started in 2019 when she was admitted as a  PhD student in the Department of Social medicine and health care organization at the Medical University – Varna. In April 2023, she became a part-time lecturer, and in September of the same year, she was appointed as assistant  in the Public Health Inspector at the Medical College – Varna.

Assistant Ilieva is proficient in English and has working knowledge of Russian. Her main professional and academic interests include public health protection and control, epidemiology, and the prevention of infectious diseases. She has authored 12 scientific publications and has participated in 8 scientific congresses. Her research focuses on the control and prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
