The Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology
at the Medical University of Varna was established in 2001. The previously
independent Department of Physiology and Department of Pathophysiology were
merged into a new department comprising two academic and research units – the
Physiology Unit and the Pathophysiology Unit.
The first head of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology was Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Negrin Negrev, MD, PhD (currently Professor, DSc).
The main priorities of the Department are educational and research activities.
The departmental goals in this regard are aligned with the primary mission of
the Medical University of Varna – to train medical doctors, dental
practitioners, and pharmacists in accordance with scientific advancements and
universal human values.
