The Department of Microbiology and Virology was founded in 1961, together with the founding of the Medical University – Varna. Today it has four classrooms for conducting practical classes with students in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, equipped with computers and individual workplaces with all necessary materials for microbiological analysis. On the territory of the department there is also a seminar hall for conducting lecture courses, equipped with multimedia. The Department of Microbiology and Virology functions in close colaboration with the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology and Virology at the University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna.
