Биография

Born 1976 in Varna . Graduated from the First Language High School, Varna in 1995. Graduated Suma cum Laude from Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov", Varna " in 2001 acquiring a master's degree in Medicine . In September 2002, he was elected as an assistant professor at the Department of Anatomy and cell biology (known as Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology at the time) at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov", Varna. Acquired a specialty in "Anatomy, histology and cytology" in 2005. In 2012, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic: "Effect of altered trigeminal sensation on the sprouting of axonal collaterals, the quality of muscle reinnervation and the recovery of coordinated motor functions after facial nerve transection in adult rats." From October 2013 to February 2014, worked and taught at the Anatomy Center at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne.

His scientific publications discuss the morphological and functional regeneration and recovery in the central and peripheral nervous system. Dr Stoyan Pavlov's scientific interests include also classical and modern histological and cytological techniques; methods for acquisition, recording and automated qualitative and quantitative analysis of microscopic images; modern approaches to experimental design and data analysis; and scientific and statistical computing.

Head of the scientific group on "Computational analysis of biomedical images" at the Research Institute of the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov", Varna. Co-founder (together with Prof. Galina Momcheva from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar") of an inter-university and interdisciplinary scientific research ecosystem for the analysis of biomedical images BioMed Varna, which was awarded with collective "Varna" award in the field of "Technical Sciences" for 2020.

Dr Stoyan Pavlov's research is presented in more than 50 publications and at over than 60 national and international scientific forums. He is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgarian Anatomical Society. Laureate of the 2017 award of the Bulgarian Anatomical Society in the name of "Prof. Dimitar Kadanov" .
