On April 3rd 2025, the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of MU-Varna, Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov, visited Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. He delivered a congratulatory address on behalf of the rector of MU - Varna, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov, in which he expressed his satisfaction with the exchange of students and lecturers under the “Erasmus+" programme, as well as the intentions for partnership and more active participation in joint initiatives in the future.

During the visit, Prof. Milkov met with Dr. Marcel Pop - Director of the Directorate for International Relations and Prof. Peter Hermann - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. The topics which were discussed included expanding cooperation in the areas of academic exchange, joint research projects, student mobility, and modern educational practices.
It was proposed to sign an agreement for academic cooperation between the two universities. The main areas in which bilateral relations will develop and which are of mutual interest are orthopedics, transplantology, robotic surgery, surgery, neurosurgery and cardiology. In addition to medical fields, a desire was expressed for joint research work in the fields of dentistry and pharmacy.
Semmelweis University in Budapest was founded in 1769 and is one of the most prestigious medical universities in Europe, with a long tradition in education and research in the fields of medicine, pharmacy and healthcare.
