Students from Medical University – Varna have an option to train Canoeing - Kayaking at the Black Sea Breeze Canoe-Kayak Sports Club. The initiative of the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov, DSc aims at expanding sports opportunities and promoting an active lifestyle among young people. The University has training simulators, but this project now enables students to train in real conditions in the waters of Varna Lake.
The practical training takes place twice a week - on Saturdays and Sundays, and transport to and from the sports facilities is provided by MU-Varna. “I hope that by next season, we will also have provided our own equipment," said Eng. Deyan Grancharov – Assistant Rector.
The training sessions are conducted by Paisiy Lyubenov, winner of bronze medals at world canoe-kayak championships. “I am positive that pretty soon we will have student crews that will be performing with dignity at competitions," he commented.
“We have laid the foundations for a successful partnership with the Medical University. I believe we will build on it successfully," added Aleksandar Grigorov, chairman of the club.
