Medical University – Varna reaffirmed its leading position and once again conquered the peak of sports achievements with its triumph at the 26th Varna Student Universiade. With an impressive record of 160 competitors, the University unequivocally won the title of Overall Champion. For yet another year, our athletes brought home a flood of awards – 14 trophies, 34 gold, 24 silver, and 12 bronze medals, proving their class, character, and a champion's spirit in every discipline.

At a formal ceremony last night in the Yunashki Hall in Varna, the athletes of the University, in the presence of their coaches and faculty members from the Department of Physical Education and Sports at MU-Varna, were congratulated with ovations and applause from the audience, organisers and the people of Varna. On behalf of the academic management, the Overall Winner's Trophy was received by the Vice Rector of MU-Varna, Eng. Deyan Gruncharov, and Assoc. Prof. Zhulieta Videnova—Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
The city's largest student sports event, held from 15 to 29 April, brought together the elite athletes from the universities of Varna in spectacular competitions in cross-country athletics, mini football, 3x3 basketball, swimming, table tennis, chess, tennis, and billiards. The atmosphere was electric, the competition was fierce, and every discipline featured hard-fought battles right down to the finish line.
For another year, MU–Varna secured top positions in most disciplines. The team results in athletics demonstrated a complete domination. MU-Varna was the undisputed leader in the men's and women's standings, winning gold and leaving the competition far behind. Admiration for the performance of our athletes!
In swimming, with the largest team – 36 competitors, MU–Varna conquered the pool. With a total of 667 points from nine disciplines, our swimmers confidently finished in the first place, showing exceptional endurance and high class. More than 70 students from six higher education institutions in Varna took part in the competition, showcasing excellent preparation, speed, and stamina.

In basketball, the sports battles lasted until the final second. Our women's team climbed to the top and claimed the gold, while the men's team deservedly earned silver. The tournament offered dynamics, spectacular plays, and dramatic turnarounds until the final whistle. The competition featured intense battles under the basket, high tempo, accurate long-range shooting, and very good tactical organisation. As the tournament progressed, the competition intensified, and the best-prepared teams managed to assert their dominance and reach the podium.

The University volleyball was once again on the rise. Great joy for all fans of the sport came with the first place of our men's team, which triumphed with gold. The women's team added a silver medal to the University's impressive collection.
For another year, MU–Varna's tennis players boasted impeccable technique, confidence, and high results. Following their excellent performance at the tournament, our competitors brought two gold trophies to the University in the men's and women's team rankings.
We also maintained a strong lead in table tennis. Our women's team is once again No. 1.
In the men's competition, we won bronze, and in the individual events, we secured even more valuable awards, including gold and silver in the women's division.
In the chess tournament, strategy and concentration were the determining factors for the winners. With a total of 15.5 points, MU–Varna won bronze in the team ranking, proving that our achievements are not only physical but also intellectual.
