The International Congress on Colorectal Surgery, traditional for the surgical community in Bulgaria, is to be held from 5th to 7th October at Admiral Hotel in Golden Sands Resort. For the first time in four years, specialists are provided with the opportunity to meet in person and exchange valuable experience gained in a dynamically developing environment.
The focus of this year's Congress will be minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgical interventions, personalised medicine and genetic research in the field of colorectal oncological diseases. It will also focus on topics related to inflammatory diseases of the colon and rectum, as well as surgery in liver metastases from colorectal carcinoma.
Prof. Dr. Isidoro di Carlo and Dr. Giulio Santoro from Italy, Prof. Long Zhao from Great Britain, Dr. Oliver Schwandner from Germany, Dr. Attila Szijártó from Hungary, etc. are among the foreign lecturers at the Congress. Scientific reports from leading clinics in Bulgaria will also be presented.
The Congress will provide the unique opportunity for the lectures to be filmed by a professional team and published in the only virtual academy of surgery in Bulgaria “GI Surgery Academy".
The scientific forum was initiated in 1985 by a team headed by Prof. Temelko Temelkov. Organisers of the 18th International Congress on Colorectal Surgery are the Department of General and Operative Surgery at MU-Varna and First Clinic of Surgery at UMHAT "St. Marina"–Varna. Chairman of the Organising Committee is Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov, and Honorary Chairmen are Prof. Dr. Temelko Temelkov and Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov.
