The European Commission's HR Excellence in Research Logo was awarded to Medical University – Varna on 11 May 2022. This high distinction was received within a project of the University Research Institute. The high recognition for scientific research at MU – Varna was received after the completion of a one-year procedure implemented by appointed by the Rector Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov team, headed by Prof. Diana Ivanova, DSc, Deputy Director for Innovation and Technology Transfer of the Research Institute, and a supervisory committee of the Vice-Rectors of Medical University – Varna, and Prof. Dr. Anton Tonchev, DSc, Director of the Research Institute.
Obtaining the Logo for Medical University – Varna means increased visibility at European level, an advantage when applying for European projects, more funds attracted for science, better accreditation assessment and greater attractiveness in involving researchers.
The Logo is a type of certificate proving that the institution holding it is actively implementing the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The Logo is a legitimation for research freedom, professional responsibility in recruitment of staff, international recognition of their qualifications, public engagement and linking research topics and projects to the business sector and the interests of local communities.
As a member of EURAXESS, the emblem of the award for Medical University – Varna was activated on the EURAXESS portal, thus increasing the visibility of the University. Medical University - Varna is also listed in the EURAXESS portal
(https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/hrs4r/awarded), together with a link to the University Researchers' Development Strategy published on the University's website.
MU – Varna is the fifth scientific institution and the first of the medical universities in Bulgaria to be evaluated for its policy towards researchers with this distinction.
From that moment on, as an award-winning institution, Medical University – Varna can use the Logo associated with its name by publishing it on its website, in social media posts, in marketing campaigns, etc., as proof that the University provides a stimulating and favourable working environment for its researchers.
