Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, PhD, Rector of MU – Varna was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Association of Medical Universities in Bulgaria. This took place at a meeting of the Management Board of the Association, which was held on 7 July 2022. Prof. Ignatov continues the term of office of the Presidency in place of Acad. Dr. Lachezar Traykov, DSc, Rector of Medical University – Sofia, who was elected Chairman of the Council of Rectors in the Republic of Bulgaria last month.
The new Chairman of the Association of Medical Universities in the Republic of Bulgaria received congratulations from both the outgoing Chairman and the other members of the Management Board of the Association – Prof. Dr. Mariana Murdzheva, PhD, Rector of Medical University – Plovdiv, Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, PhD, Rector of Medical University – Pleven and Prof. Dr. Slavcho Tomov, DSc, Rector of MU – Pleven in the period from 08.02.2013 to 13.05.2021, who wished him fruitful work and building on the achieved high reputation of the Association.
For his part, Prof. Ignatov congratulated Acad. Traykov on his election as Chairman of the Council of Rectors in Bulgaria, and expressed his gratitude for the vote of confidence of the members of the Management Board of the Association of Medical Universities and said, "We will continue working as we have done so far – through principles-based and reasonable proposals to strengthen the prestige of the Medical Universities in the country."
