The World Health Organisation awarded a certificate for participation of Medical University – Varna in the World Hearing Day, which was celebrated on 3 March 2022.
Every year, since 2007, the World Health Organisation has held the World Hearing Day event on 3 March. The aim is to draw the public's attention to hearing problems. Every year, a motto is chosen under which the celebrations take place.
In March 2022 Medical University – Varna joined for the second time in a row in the celebration of the World Hearing Day. This year's motto of the event was "To hear for life, listen with care" – focusing on safe listening, protection from exposure to loud sounds and sound trauma, and maintaining adequate hearing levels throughout the life of the individual.
On this occasion, on the territory of the Audio-Vestibular and Sleep Laboratory at the University Medical and Dental Centre at MU – Varna, preventive examinations of patients with reduced hearing capacity and metabolic diseases, diabetes mellitus and sudden hearing loss were performed. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov, Head of the Laboratory, also organised a broad information campaign on hearing problems in early childhood and in the elderly.
