Representatives of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Medical University–Varna, including Prof. Svetlana Georgieva, Dean of the Faculty, and Assoc. Prof. Galina Yaneva, Vice-Dean for Research and Career Development, took part in one of the major forums on Pharmaceutical Education in Europe – the Annual Assembly and International Conference of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP). The event took place from 13th-15th May 2025 in Coimbra (Portugal), under the motto “Pharmaceutical Education and Research: SWOT Analysis".


During the Conference, leading scientists and eminent university lecturers shared experience on the potential of SWOT analysis for effective planning in assessing the needs for curriculum optimization and health literacy improvement. Inspiring views were shared on new developments in education, research and career opportunities in the field of pharmaceutical sciences in the European space.
The Conference also included presentations by Assoc. Prof. Velichka Andonova and Assoc. Prof. Viliana Gugleva in the field of pharmaceutical technologies and cosmetic products, funded under project No BG-RRP-2.004-0009-C02 “Medical University - Varna: Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)" of the European Union – NextGenerationEU, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Future opportunities for partnership and cooperation amongst the Faculties of Pharmacy in the Balkans were the focus of the discussions at the forum.
