The Open Doors Day Organised by MU-Varna for Foreign Prospective Students Provoked Great Interest

On 12 April, Medical University-Varna welcomed prospective students, parents and guests at the traditional Open Doors Day. Visitors from Germany, Great Britain, Brazil and Bulgaria had the opportunity to get acquainted with the vast world of medical science at the most modern and high-tech Medical University in Bulgaria.

The prospective students were introduced to the specialities and study programmes offered at the Faculties of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy.

The Student Affairs Office experts and current students at MU-Varna showed the University and its training rooms to the visitors, and provided answers to the questions of the prospective students. The latter had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the academic atmosphere and shared that it was really useful for them to communicate with students, lecturers and alumni of the University.

The participants obtained information on the provided specialities and the application procedure, observed the simulators used for student training, the 3D Anatomy and the microscopic training rooms at the Department of Anatomy, the museum collection, and visited the renovated University Library.

Foreign prospective students attended practical training exercises in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Medicine and Nutrigenomics and had the opportunity to watch various chemical experiments, attractive laboratory experiments, microscopic and macroscopic observations, live demonstrations with cutting-edge equipment. The possibilities of the "virtual classroom" were also demonstrated for them. Furthermore, they were acquainted with the Blackboard learning platform and the simulation software for physiological experiments and research.

Vimedix ultrasound simulator and Body Interact-Virtual Patient Simulator were located in one of the University auditoriums, where, under the guidance of specialist doctors, the visitors observed in real conditions how the ultrasound and the platform for virtual patient simulation function.

The prospective students also visited the major clinical training facilities at University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “Saint Marina"-Varna and got acquainted with the state-of-the-art equipment there and the real conditions for practical classes for providing modern medical care.

On 13 April, the applicants sat for the entrance exams in Biology, Chemistry and the English Language Proficiency Exam.
