An international webinar took place with partners and alumni of MU – Varna in Auditorium I on 08.05.2020. The event was held under the auspices of the Rector of the Medical University Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, PhD, at the initiative of the Alumni Club and Friends.
Numerous members of the Club, distinguished professors and scientists from the universities and hospitals in Manheim, St. Pölten, Bucharest, Houston, Haifa, Porto Alegre, Berlin, Istanbul and other cities around the globe had occupied their seats in front of their computers long before the official opening of the meeting and were virtually present in Auditorium I of MU – Varna.
The forum was opened by Prof. Todorka Kostadinova – Director of Directorate "International Relations, Accreditation and Quality" with an address by Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, MD, PhD – Rector, Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov, MD, Phd, DSc - Chairman of the General Assembly and the whole academic management of the Medical University of Varna.
Prof. Kostadinova shared with the participants that Alma Mater cares about its disciples and friends, about the challenges faced by them from a professional and personal aspect in times of global pandemics. A symbolical invitation was proposed to the participants in the forum to walk together along the virtual bridge, created by means of the high technologies at MU – Varna.
In spite of the time lag the webinar was joined live by over 86 participants from 17 countries, among which Australia, the USA, Canada, Jamaica, Norway, Sweden, Israel, Turkey, Germany. Austria, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Greece, Serbia, Republic of South Africa, Japan, Egypt, Brazil, Albania, Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Jordan, Bulgaria. Many of the participating colleagues, outstanding physicians from the Balkan countries, Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America have been guests of the University and others expressed their willingness to deliver online lectures or participate in future fora.
The Chairman of the Alumni Club and Friends Assoc. Prof. Mario Milkov, PhD– Secretary of European Academy of Otology and Neurootology and Chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sleep Medicine greeted the participants in the webinar sharing with them part of the future ideas for joint scientific, therapeutic and charity initiatives. He thanked all the members of the Alumni Club and Friends, to the management of the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" - Varna, the Directorate of International Relations, Accreditation and Quality", the Department of Information Management and Technologies, the Department of Communication and Television and all the guests who took part in the virtual meeting, including those who could not be physically present online!
The webinar also marked the 30th anniversary of the International Medical Association Bulgaria (IMAB), which has been a long-standing partner of MU - Varna.
The alumni of the Medical University from all over the world expressed their gratitude for the high quality of the training they have acquired at the University, confirmed that they are carefully following the development of the institution and value highly its international activities and repute.
