Another Donation for Children with Diabetes at UMHAT ”St. Marina” – Varna

Another donation for children with diabetes was received today at UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna. Five sets, containing two transmitters and 20 sensor devices for blood glucose monitoring, a laptop for remote monitoring of the status of young patients and financial resources were presented to Prof. Dr. Violeta Yotova – Head of Paediatrics Direction and a team leader of professionals who provide medical care to more than 700 children with diabetes at University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna. The donation was presented by Denislava Angelova – President of "Touch the Rainbow" Association, an initiator of the campaign, and a representative of Labyrinth Residential Complex, who have provided the donation funds.

The sensors are used to monitor the status of the young patients with diabetes through constantly monitoring the blood glucose curve, thus, sparing the need for children to be jabbed over and over again. "Provided the glucose levels are too low or too high, parents are alerted via their mobile phones," explained Prof. Yotova. Such devices have been donated for the first time in Bulgaria.
