The Tree of Peace Was Planted in the Courtyard of UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna

Today, the Executive Director of UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna Prof. Dr. Silva Andonova, participants in the Peace Run, the Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics from Tokyo 2021 Madlen Radukanova, and physicians planted in the park of the hospital the Tree of Peace – a silver spruce, given as a gift by the Bulgarian team of the international relay Peace Run. A plaque was placed next to the tree to remind us of the good deeds in life.

UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna is the first hospital in Bulgaria chosen to be a part of this global initiative. Participants in the Peace Run presented to the hospital ten paintings created by the founder, which will be placed in children's clinics as a symbol of peace. "Peace does not mean the absence of war, peace means the presence of harmony, love, satisfaction and oneness," said Violeta Angelova from the Bulgarian section of the Peace Run, quoting the words of the spiritual teacher and founder of the organisation Sri Chinmoy. Prof. Andonova received the Torch of Peace, a symbol of the aspiration for a life in a peaceful and more harmonious world, and then went on to thank on behalf of the physicians and the management of the hospital. "The idea of peace and harmony is treasured in the soul. Especially in the situation we are in at the moment – we have been working under constant pressure for two years now, we do need harmony in our souls and peace with ourselves! Thank you for choosing our hospital!"

The team of the Peace Run congratulated all those present with the song "Peace Run", composed by the founder Sri Chinmoy, after which the Torch of Peace was brought to the hospital.

During the event at UMHAT "St. Marina" – Varna, the Olympic champion announced the launch of the initiative "Year of Thanksgiving with Madlen Radukanova", which will be underway in all 12 months of 2022. "During this initiative of mine I will be present at a different place every month to meet children and young people who need support, mentoring, a good example," said Madlen Radukanova. The initiative will be implemented with the support of Denislava Angelova, founder of "Touch the Rainbow" Association.
