Between 26th and 28th November 2020, lecturers and PhD students from MU –Varna participated in a Jubilee Scientific Conference with international participation, dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Pleven.
Representatives of the Varna Medical University presented 28 reports and posters in the scientific forum on New Approaches to Public Health and Health Policy. It was held in electronic format and included 11 thematic areas: epidemiology of chronic non-infectious diseases, medical and social rehabilitation and integration, mental health, health economics, digital public health, environment and health, health promotion, management and quality of health care, ethical issues and clinical ethics.
The pending public health issues confronting all countries in the context of COVID-19 pandemic and the possibilities for solving them were discussed. The issues arising from the potential consequences for physical and mental health and for children's socialisation as a result of the long-term epidemiological situation were also highlighted.
Besides the presented reports, the lecturers took part in plenary lectures and two workshops conducted by foreign lecturers, including Dr. Iveta Nagyova – President of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), Prof. Dina Balabanova from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Prof. John Kinsman from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Stockholm, Assoc. Prof. Miroslav Klugar from the Czech National Centre for Evidence-Based Healthcare and Knowledge Translation, Prof. Cristin Gavrilovici from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi (Romania) and Dr. Jeromir Matocek from the Third Faculty of Medicine at Charles University.
Representatives of MU-Plovdiv, the National Centre of Public Health and Analyses (NCPHA), South – West University – Blagoevgrad, the Medical Faculty at Trakia University (Thracian University) – Stara Zagora and "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University – Burgas also took part at the conference.
