MU - Varna Awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021 - 2027

Medical University - Varna was awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education by the European Commission. The document was signed by the Rector of the University - Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, D Sc.

The Charter provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities that MU - Varna carries out within Erasmus+ Programme. It is a necessary condition for participating in the learning mobility and cooperation in the fields of education, training, youth and sport within the 2021 - 2027 programming period. The Charter enables the University to work for its international prestige through participating as an equal partner in the European Higher Education Area, achieving high – quality mobility of students, lecturers and administrative staff and recognition of the results of the student training abroad.

More than 530 students, lecturers and employees of MU - Varna carried out mobility abroad within the Erasmus+ Programme in 2014 – 2020.

MU - Varna has signed bilateral agreements within Erasmus+ with 59 universities from 21 European countries. The University is in a continuous process of negotiations with potential future partners to expand the number and scope of exchange cooperation under the Programme.

The COVID – 19 pandemic has modified the implementation of the Erasmus+ programme with the need to resolve force-majeure situations.

For more than 30 years, the Erasmus+ Programme has contributed to the development of the European and international cooperation. The signing of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the next 2021 – 2027 programming period opens up new perspectives for MU - Varna for exchanging professional experience and development, quality education and enhancing the internationalisation and modernisation of the University.

We would like to thank all our international partners, our students and lecturers, our university Erasmus+ team and our colleagues from the Human Resource Development Centre – Sofia, with whom together we succeed in achieving these results, making dreams come true and connecting more and more people and institutions in the pursuit for better education and better health!
