On 2nd and 3rd July 2026, Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov"–Varna hosts the Second International Foot and Ankle Course–Varna, bringing together prominent experts and clinicians with a shared interest in the latest advances in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of foot and ankle. The course is intended for orthopaedic and trauma surgery residents and experienced orthopaedic surgeons seeking to enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in one of the most rapidly evolving areas of orthopaedics.
The course will be held in the Lecture Hall A at UMHAT “St. Marina" – Varna, with participant registration commencing at 8:00 a.m. on 2 July.
The scientific programme involves renowned lecturers representing the Bulgarian Foot and Ankle Society, the German Foot and Ankle Society (GFFC), and the Balkan Foot and Ankle Society (BAFAS). The international participation will foster the exchange of expertise, showcase state-of-the-art surgical techniques, and promote discussions on best clinical practices.
The event will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in foot and ankle surgery and to establish new professional contacts and future partnerships in the international orthopaedic community.
The two-day programme includes lectures covering the anatomy, biomechanics, clinical and imaging diagnostics of the foot and ankle, and the treatment of a wide range of deformities, traumatic injuries, and fractures. A particular emphasis is placed on hands-on training through demonstrations and work on artificial bone models (sawbones), thus, enabling participants to master and hone key surgical techniques under the guidance of internationally recognised experts. The programme also includes discussions of real clinical cases and specialised practical workshops.
The aim of the course is to further strengthen the position of MU–Varna as a centre of excellence for high-quality postgraduate education and the professional development of medical specialists by creating opportunities for interaction among scientific research, medical education, and clinical practice.
