A team of the Clinic of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna and representatives of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at MU-Varna took part in the 26th edition of EFORT Annual Congress. The event was held from 11th to 13th June in Lyon, France, with the main topic of the forum being “Modern Technologies in Orthopaedics: Challenging Ethics & Outcomes".

The event brought together leading experts from all over Europe. The participants highlighted the whole spectrum of current orthopaedic and trauma issues in Europe and outlined the future trends.
Representatives of UMHAT “St. Marina" and MU-Varna at the forum were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetoslav Dobrilov – Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and Administrative Manager of the Clinic of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Varna University Hospital, specialists at the Clinic – Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Stoyan Ivanov, Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Preslav Penev, Assist. Prof. Dr. Veselin Grigorov, Assist. Prof. Dr. Konstantin Ganchev, Dr. Vladislav Grigorov and Dr. Kristian Ivanov.

“The level of work at the Clinic of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at UMHAT “St. Marina"–Varna fully complies with modern standards and trends in Orthopaedics," our participants stated categorically. At the Congress in Lyon, they presented projects and papers related to 3D preoperative planning of pelvic fractures and antibiotic-coated implants for external fixation. Opportunities for international collaboration, exchange of specialists and implementation of joint projects were discussed with teams from other leading European hospitals.
This year, the Congress of Orthopaedics in Lyon offered participants more than 160 scientific sessions, symposia, discussion forums, evidence-based medical sessions, discussions on complex cases, educational lectures, interactive exchange of experts and specialized sessions. The keynote lecturers ranged from prominent experts in endoprosthetics, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, patellar stabilization to sports traumatology.
