On behalf of MU-Varna, the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Mario Milkov took part in a key meeting of the General Assembly of the Marine Scientific Society Association, held on 12 May 2026. The event, which took place at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, marked a essential step in the development of the organisation, which brings together Bulgarian academic and scientific potential in the maritime sector. Representatives of 14 out of the Association's total 16 member organisations attended the meeting. The in-person format of the event allowed for constructive dialogue and an exchange of visions for the future of the blue economy and maritime research. The official handover of the management responsibilities took place in the course of the meeting. Flotilla admiral Prof. Kalin Kalinov, PhD, who had previously headed the Association Association, handed over the helm to Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, Rector of Burgas Free University.
