Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dobrin Paskalev, a specialist in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and lecturer at Medical University - Varna, has been nominated for the Varna Award 2025, Literature section, for his talented new poetry book “At the Hidden Altar of the Words" (“Na dumite pred skritiya oltar"). The proposal of the Association of Writers in the Sea Capital was made during the presentation of the poetry book in the Library of Medical University.
The event, which attracted scores of friends and colleagues of Assoc. Prof. Paskalev, was opened by Prof. Dr. Dimitrichka Bliznakova, while a special guest was Prof. Dr. Viliyan Platikanov - the author of the music to six of the poems in the book. The music is accessible for listening through scanning a QR code printed on the pages. During the meeting Assoc. Prof. Paskalev presented some of his poetic works, guiding his friends through a rich palette of emotions, treasured insights and wise conclusions.
Prof. Platikanov joined in with his guitar singing several favourite poems from the book.
“Everyone has his own taste, and it has been known since ancient times, “De gustibus non est disputandum" (“In matters of taste, there can be no disputes"). So, if the reader does make it to the last page of the book, let him reflect whether he has discovered something for himself as well," said Assoc. Prof. Paskalev in the end.
