410 young doctors from the Class of 2025 of Medical University - Varna took the Hippocratic Oath at a solemn ceremony in the Palace of Culture and Sports. More than 3 500 spectators in the Congress Hall, and the numerous audience watching the ceremony live on the Internet, witnessed their vow to serve in the name of life and health of people. The day of the solemn promotion was festive for the entire academic community and especially thrilling for the alumni who have reached the final of their six-year education with dignity.

210 Bulgarian and 200 foreign graduates were awarded their diplomas. The Class of 2025 boasts two outstanding students - Dr. Sindi Ivanova and Dr. Yoana Krasteva, who have achieved the maximum final score both throughout the overall studies and the state examinations. Their distinction with the prestigious “Golden Hippocrates" Award was recognition for the exceptional efforts of the two young female doctors. Being its holders, Dr. Ivanova and Dr. Krasteva are granted the right to launch their career path at UMHAT “St. Marina" - Varna, and they have already been appointed residents in the Clinic of Internal Medicine. Dr. Nafisa Khalil from UK is the topper of the Class of 2025 from the English-language program of study at the Faculty of Medicine.

86 alumni have achieved excellent GPA, which proves the high level of education and motivation of the future doctors. 18 military doctors from the third class of the joint programme of MU-Varna, Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy and the Military Medical Academy were among the alumni as well. The successful completion of their studies reflects the strategic importance of the collaboration amongst the three institutions.
“The Class of 2025 of the Faculty of Medicine is a very special one," highlighted the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov in his congratulatory speech. He recalled that the alumni had started their education in the midst of COVID – 19 pandemics, and the students had to adapt to on-line lectures and restrictions on clinical practice, and to overcome the uncertainty and anxiety of the times. “And despite all the adversities, you have moved forward. It is particularly gratifying that among you there are graduates not only from Bulgaria, but also from 24 foreign countries. Your being here proves that the desire to help and save human lives has no boundaries," added the Rector. In conclusion, Prof. Raykov emphasised, “It is an honour for me to refer to you as “Colleagues"!"

The President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rumen Radev also sent a congratulatory address, saying, “I would like to congratulate all of you on your successful graduation! I believe that the difficulties that you have overcome at the cost of immense efforts throughout the process of your education will foster your well-deserved confidence. Uphold the Hippocratic Oath and be a worthy example of perseverance and dedication!"
Congratulatory addresses to the graduates and the academic leadership of MU-Varna were sent by the Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, His Eminence Metropolitan John of Varna and Veliki Preslav, as well as heads of more than 30 institutions and organizations from all the country.
All excellent students were awarded with a cash prize from the Rector and an Honorary Sign of the Faculty of Medicine. The two top students of the Class of 2025 were awarded a cash prize, established by Order of the Mayor of Varna Municipality. Dr. Ege Ahmed, Dr. Pavlo Slavov and Dr. Stoimen Dimitrov were honoured by the Bulgarian Medical Association. Dr. Dimitrov also received the award named after Dr. Nikola Sirakov for highest scientific achievements during his studies. A total of 30 graduates received awards for active student activities, sports achievements and participation in the arts and creativity initiatives of the University.
Participants in the festive programme were the representatives of the Navy brass band, conducted by Captain III rank Georgi Zayranov, the singing talents of MU-Varna - the just-graduated Dr. Yasen Korabov, the medical students Aleksandar Petrov and Alan Poulson - from the English-Language Training Programme of MU-Varna, the dancers from the University's Diana Student Dance Ensemble, as well as from The Center World – Dance and Modern Culture School.
Representatives of the Presidency, state and local authorities, heads of medical institutions and educational institutions, rectors, deans and members of the Board of Trustees of MU-Varna over the years, diplomats, ambassadors and honorary consuls, representatives of professional and non-governmental organisations, partners, media and citizens were among the guests at the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2025 of the Faculty of Medicine of MU-Varna.
